Our Story

I have always had a passion for animals and their welfare.  Together, my husband and I have adopted five rescue dogs and five cats.  We love being fur parents and giving these amazing animals the second chance at life that they truly deserve.  We would love the opportunity to extend this love to your pets in the form of pet sitting, dog walking, enrichment sessions, and pet matchmaking services.

I am a Certified Professional Pet Sitter through Pet Sitters International and have over 15 years of animal handling experience that includes working with differently-abled animals including blind, deaf and tripawd pets.  I am a certified Therapy Dog handler with Therapy Dogs International and am a former foster parent with Partners 4 Pets.

Currently, I'm a humane education volunteer with the APA of Missouri along with my tripawd pooch, Penny.  I am also a volunteer editor/writer with Pets for Patriots.

Additionally, I'm a member of Pet Sitters International and am certified by the American Red Cross in Cat and Dog First Aid.  Keeping pets happy and healthy is my mission.  Furthermore, I'm a member of the Animal Rescue Professionals Association, am a Certified Animal Rescue Transporter, and am a certified volunteer with Doobert.com.

Meet my furry crew of rescued animals below!

Our Team

Lauren Theuerkauf - Our founder/owner.  Her love for animals began as a child and she once considered being a veterinarian.  Lauren's very first pet was a Guinea pig named Precious.  She also had a Border Collie named Spots and a bunny named Chester.  Lauren lives in Freeburg, Illinois with her husband, Matt, and their five rescue dogs and three cats.

Matthew Theuerkauf - Animal care specialist.  Matt grew up in a home that always had a dog.  His first pup was a Chihuahua named Patches.  Over time, his family adopted more pets that included dogs Duchess and Lucy, a cat named Tiffany, and a Mexican Redhead named Mickey.  Matt specializes in livestock and has experience caring for goats, ducks, and chickens.  He lives in Freeburg, Illinois with his wife, Lauren, and their furry family members.

Jason Hastings - Animal care specialist.  Jason loves animals of all kinds, but has a true passion for felines.  He is a cat daddy with over 20 years of experience with kitties of all ages and abilities.  Jason is also an Air Force veteran.  He lives in O'Fallon, Illinois with his clowder of rescue cats.

Elizabeth Toepfer - Liz is a proud Military Spouse and former bakery owner.  She and Bob will be married 23 years in September 2024.  Their family of six includes their 19 year old son, Bobby, 17 year old daughter Isabella, 11 year old Labradoodle Buckeye, and their new 8 month old Siberian Husky puppy named Milo.  Liz has loved dogs her whole life.  Growing up in a family of eight, having that fur baby companion comes in handy when everyone else is busy.  Liz still enjoys baking, especially making homemade dog treats and pup cakes for Buckeye and Milo.  Liz can't wait to care for our clients fur babies and maybe even offer them a homemade dog treat or two.

Bob Toepfer - Bob is a Retired Air Force Veteran.  He served proudly for 20 years.  He has always loved animals, especially dogs.  Bob and his wife, Liz, have two teenagers, and two fur babies living in their home in Mascoutah.  Buckeye, their 11 year old Labradoodle, loves lounging on his favorite couch, going for walks, enjoying homemade dog treats, and sleeping in their son's bed.  Milo, their 8 month old Siberian Husky, is loving his new home.  Milo loves talking, chewing, being cuddled, and getting carried everywhere around the house by their daughter, Isabella.  Bob can't wait to meet our clients' fur babies and give them the love and attention that they deserve.
